Make more money with Google Adsense
Here is a simple idea that everyone should try who uses Google adsense. Change your settings so that you show only Image ads. Then track the results. See whether or not
a) your click-through-rate goes up
and
b) the amount you receive per click goes up.
I recently did a quick experiment with my site and found that both went up (even though the ads seem less targetted than the text ads). Not only that, but I think that the image ads look more professional. So, you win on both accounts, you look more professional and make more money at the same time. Of course, you have to see if it works on your site, but it’s worth a try.

I just did that switch on my site (admittedly a fairly small blog)… Will report back with results :-D.
Great - let us know how it works.
All the best,
Moshe
I like the way the image ads look, but for some reason, the drop ad in my highest traffic article (http://programcsharp.com/blog/archive/2006/04/10/yme-now-playing-plugin-for-wlm.aspx) hasn’t come in yet. They’re everywhere else, just not there, and that was the main page generating clicks, so my click rate is in the toilet. I guess google hasn’t figured out what image to show there? Blargh. I guess I’ll wait another couple days and see if it comes in.
So I did the test on my site for a couple more weeks. Getting zilch for clicks from the image ads. I just switched back to text ads and everything is normal. This may be a little different from you high volume guys (my blog gets maybe 200 vists/week and $1/day), but for me the image ads sucked. This could be because google couldn’t seem to find an applicable ad for my top content.
