A friend of mine once said it best, the interent is a huge financial pie, I’m happy if I can get a small slice (note: his small slice is worth quite a bit of money). We would all like to get our slice of the internet pie. The question is what are the best and easiest ways to make money online? Or, in other words, what kind of slices are available? Well, I thought I’d make a list of some of the best ways to make money online (note, this list isn’t comprehensive, but it’s a good start). Here goes:

The basic list (a list of some of the more successful ways to make money online)

1. Selling products (you can either sell products online or send people to your offline store)
2. Selling services (the internet is a great place to market your services, regardless of what they are)
3. Sell content (i.e., create quality, needed content and/or online service and charge a subscription fee to access that content or use that service)
4. Affilate programs (you can sell other peoples products or generate leads for them and get a commision for each sale or lead)
5. Ad revenue (there are more and more ad programs starting up all the time. Some of the more popular ones are Google AdSense, Yahoo Publisher Network, and Chakita mini-malls. You can also sell link space and/or ad space on your site)
6. Create online products (such as E-books, online tutorials and/or software programs)
7. Online Surveys

Okay, now that we have our basic list of ways to make money online, you need to figure out which possibilty best suits your personality, capabilities, and interests. After all, if you dislike apple pie you wouldn’t order it just because it was a large slice. Similarly, don’t go after a larger slice of the internet pie if you don’t enjoy that type of “pie”. In other words, you are going to have to enjoy what you do online. Not just because you will be spending a good deal of time doing it (although that is one of the reasons), but also because if you don’t enjoy how you make money you most likely won’t make money. The internet is fierce competion and you need to stay ahead of your competitors (many of whom enjoy what they do). If you can’t stand what you do, chances are you won’t find the time or energy necessary to maintain your competitive edge.

Once you find out what it is that you like to do, you then need to find out how to do it. For example, let’s say that you decide that you like writing and you want to try and write an e-book. Well, now you need to learn how to write an e-book as well as how to market it. You may need to adapt your writing style to the internet. And, of course, you are going to have to find a worthwhile subject to write about. Indeed, regardless of how you choose to make money online you are going to have to learn the wisdoms and skills necessary to succeed in that particular area.
