2 tools to help you find keyword synonyms

One of the keys to successfully building up a large list of relevant keywords is the ability to find quality synonyms to your keywords (see our How to build a Keyword List Tutorial for more on why this important). Here, therefore, are a coupld of tools which can help you in this endeavor:

  • Synonym (www.synonymlab.com).
This is a new tool which I just discovered and have not had a chance to really try out. However, it looks rather good. Just enter a keyword and it lists numerous synonyms to that keyword as well as synonyms to those synonyms (say that three times fast). Here is a screen shot of how it works (note, I’m showing only some of the synonyms that this tool returned):

  • The Microsoft Word Thesaurus
Simply type in a word to Microsoft Word, highlight it and hit Shift-F7 and Microsoft Word will open up a list of synonyms to the right of your “worksheet”. What’s more, you can click on any of those synonyms to find their synonyms. Keep drilling down until you exhaust all the relevant options.
  • There you go, two quick and easy ways to build up some quality synonyms to your main keywords.
